Master Scholarship information by MA Global Business Journalism Program in China. Inviting applications from international students.

Launched in September 2007, this program trains students how to cover the fast-changing world of global business, economics and finance, with a focus on China's role in the global marketplace. The program, a joint initiative between the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Beijing-based Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication (TSJC), is taught fully in English to international standards by noted faculty in the fields of journalism, business and economics.



Through the generous support of its founding sponsors, Merrill Lynch, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Bloomberg, and Deloitte and Touche, the program provides students with top-notch international faculty, a high-quality curriculum, and access to the latest high-tech reporting tools.

The program seeks to admit 25 to 30 English-speaking graduate students from China and other countries starting from the Fall Semester. Students may enroll in the program full-time for two years or part-time for three years.

Requirements for Application:
  • Complete a signed application form (application form, together with more detailed application guideline and a program flyer)
  • Statement of purpose and resume
  • A copy of degree/diplomas certificate
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate studies
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A copy of passport
  • Non-native English speakers must pass an internationally recognized English-language test such as IELTS or TOEFL (minimum test score required: IELTS 6, TOEFL Paper-Based 550, or TOEFL Computer-Based 213). No requirement for Chinese language proficiency.

Application Deadline: March 15.

Fees: Annual tuition is RMB 30,000 (US$4,385).

Scholarship: International students are eligible for a variety of scholarships with funding from the Chinese Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Government. Internships at media organizations are also available through competitive application.
